Ardnamurchan Wild West Coast – 10km – 2.5 hours including photo stops
Portuairk – Lighthouse viewpoint – Bay McNeil - Sanna – Portuairk

Dates throughout the summer – timings are tide dependant

Would you like to explore the trails of coastal Ardnamurchan?
Would you like to stay relaxed and avoid path finding and map reading?
We would love to lead you to our favourite spots at a sociable running pace.

We meet in Portuairk, the most westerly settlement on the British mainland and head to the best viewpoint of the lighthouse, before descending to the famous Bay McNeil. After that we'll head to Sanna bay and its famous white sands and turquoise sea. Descending onto the beach we’ll be watching out for dolphins. We’ll run along the beach and up to the hillocks overlooking the beach which have fabulous views out to the Rum, Eigg and Muck and even Skye on a clear day. The cliffs which house the Glendrian caves are also visible.

From there we head back to Portuairk and the viewpoint above the steep rocky coastline maybe seeing some seals on the way.

The views are breath-taking; Sanna, the Small Isles, Bay MacNeill and the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse can be seen.

You might like to go for a swim in the crystal waters of the bay in Portuairk when you finish the run.

The route is a mixture of rocky paths, beach and sandy trails. Trail running shoes are recommended and a bag to carry snacks, water and extra clothing.

This is a led run and we will be moving at an easy pace which suits everyone in the group. No previous trail running experience is necessary but we recommend that you are comfortable running 10km on the pavement, Pace is unimportant.

We love running because we can explore places which are inaccessible by road. The Wild West tour takes you places that you might never discover. Join us for a added adventure on your holidays.

There are lots of path we love to explore including routes to the Singing Sands (from Ockle, 18km)), Glendrian village and Port Eigin Aig (9km), Bay MacNeil and the Lighthouse (7km).
